The new St. David’s opened in Cardiff last year, fulfilling its vision to be a unique shopping, leisure, cultural and tourist destination created by the regeneration of the heart of the city centre, and transforming Cardiff into one of the most dynamic cities in Europe. Bovis Lend Lease was appointed as main build contractor in May 2006. The building work was programmed over a three year period and was completed in autumn 2009 with the centre opening to the public during a grand launch on 22 October.
This £675 million construction project has now made St. David’s one of the UK’s largest retail centres, with the annual footfall this year expected to be around 33 million. Naturally, many of those people will be arriving by car, and Rock has recently completed handover of 75,000 sq m of top deck and intermediate deck car park finishes to Bovis.
